- Tissue lamé—a hard-to-find collection wide range of colors for patchwork embellishment or applique motifs.
- 6" x W.O.F. (width of fabric) cuts are ideal for art quilts, garments or surface design projects.
Tissue Lamé is a woven fabric. It is inherently fragile requiring a low iron temperature for pressing, and special care when working with it.

Techniques for Tissue Lamé:
For patchwork: Support lamé with an iron-on fusible interfacing (such as light dressmaker's interfacing). Cut the shapes as usual. Handle gently. Piece with other fabrics, and use a low temperature when pressing. Tissue lamé is not as sturdy as cotton fabrics, and not recommended for a quilt which will receive regular use and laundering.
Surface Embellishment: If applying the lamé as appliqué, apply a low-melt fusible web or use a stationer's glue-stick. I recommend a two-step application when machine appliquéing tissue lame:
1) Trace the outline of the applique shape on the lame. Do not cut on the line - leave excess fabric around the shape. Iron or glue-stick the shape to the desired location, and outline-stitch with straight stitching just inside the ink line. Using sharp scissors, carefully trim away the excess tissue lame surrounding the shape, just outside the straight stitches. If the lame is very light colored, trim away the ink line, too.
2) Cover the raw edges completely with a fine embroidery thread zig-zag or similar decorative stitch.
Photo clarification: Tissue lame is challenging to photograph due to the highly reflective surface (it appears darker or lighter than the colors look in person). The following colors may be slightly different according to the color settings of your computer monitor. Each sample has been photographed and shown with a solid color swatch approximating the same color.
