Thousand Pyramids

Indian Summer Thousand Pyramids Quilt
Indian Summer: Jan's quilt features a palette ranging from pale to dark values in yellow, peach, gold and green print fabrics. Please feel free to bring a wide variety of fabrics from your stash that appeal to you (20 or more pieces, at least 6" square for scraps, through fat quarter or half yard size); the fabric shades should range from light-to-dark in one or more color families. The quilt size shown is 55" x 62". Click on the link at the bottom of the page to see different color examples of this quilt.
- Single color family example: light-to-dark in just one color, such as blue, or green, or purple, etc.
- Multiple color families would include light-to-dark ranges of 2 or more colors, plus numerous transition fabrics that feature little bits of the color families youâre working with.
- Multi-colored floral, batik or novelty prints are useful transition designs.

Jan's note:Â Cut 1-2 large half-diamond triangles from your most favorite fabrics in all 3 values â do not get over-zealous! You can always cut more pieces as needed. You do not need a large triangle of every fabric. Consider your intended quilt size: smaller quilts require fewer pieces, larger quilts require more pieces and typically more fabrics.
Cut in class:Â Â small half-diamond triangles â from all 3 values â specific technique is part of class instruction.
